Editor's Note
After the population exchange, when Turks arriving from Macedonia and Salonica settled in the village, the building was used briefly as a mosque. It was then abandoned and fell into ruin before being restored recently. Inside the church, partially preserved frescoes survive on the ceiling and in the side niches. The spolia seen in the walls and floor are said to have been brought from the Isa Bey Mosque and the Church of St. John. The richest and most finely crafted features inside the church are found in the woodwork separating the naos from the bema, which is likewise rich in workmanship.
