Editor's Note
George Carpouza, the building's first owner, had this hotel built opposite the train station to serve tourists visiting the city, and he pioneered local tourism by organising horse-carriage tours to Ephesus. The building, whose upper floor has collapsed, today operates as a public cafe under the name Cafe Carpouza in his memory.
