The Kapu Mosque's ablution fountain was built in 1812 by the mufti of Konya, Esenlerlizade Seyit Abdurrahman Efendi. Standing at the northwest corner of the Kapu Mosque, on the site of the present glass-enclosed fountain, it consisted of a fluted basin 3.90 m in outer diameter and 19 cm thick, with a single-bowled center in its middle. The basin was divided into sixteen segments by vertical pilasters decorated with upper and lower profiled bands running around it. The profiled band that crowned the fountain basin from above and the curved segments were carved from a single block of stone.
