Editor's Note
The Erdemşah Mosque, also known as the Kale-i Cerp Mosque, was built in 617 AH / 1220 AD during the reign of Alâeddin Keykubad I by Şemseddin Erdemşah, son of Hacı İsmail. Its Arabic inscription, written in Seljuk thuluth script, documents the building's origin in this period and its founder. To the north of the mosque, which is square in plan, single-spaced, and covered by a dome, the portico for latecomers was once covered with small round domes; only a few traces of it have survived to the present day.
