Editor's Note
The Konya Hamidiye Gureba Hospital was opened in 1915 during the reign of Abdülhamid II as a state hospital established to treat the poor free of charge. The word "Gureba" means strangers and the destitute. In 1931 the hospital moved to a new building; this new site is what later became known as the Konya Numune Hospital.
