The battle fought at the place called Frenkyazısı carries historical significance for showing that traditional tribal forces could not stand against the regular Ottoman army. Murad I then laid siege to Konya. During the siege, Nefise Melek Hatun, the wife of Alaeddin Bey and the daughter of Murad I, begged her father to forgive her husband, and he pardoned him on condition that he come to his presence and kiss his hand. After this, Murad I annexed the lands of the Hamidoğulları back into his realm. This was also the battle in which Bayezid I earned the title "Yıldırım" (Thunderbolt).
