Editor's Note
This single-domed, square-plan structure is among the works built by Yakup Pasha, the governor of Aydın at the time, to solve the water shortage that plagued Kuyucak. Through this water-distribution chamber (maksem), the water brought to the town was distributed to four fountains built in the neighbourhoods, which survive to this day.
