Editor's Note
The most important information about the settlement comes from Strabo: 'Near Nysa, on the far bank of the Maeander River, there were two notable settlements: I mean Coscinia and Orthosia. On this bank of the river lie Briula, Mastaura and Acharaca, and up in the mountains above the city is Aroma, where the finest Messogitis wine, called Aromeus, is produced.' The unexcavated settlement of Aroma is thought to have lain near the present-day village of Kavaklı.
