In January-February 1415, after Celebi Mehmed had definitively secured the submission of Candarli Isfendiyar Bey, and before he turned once more toward Konya in March 1415, he sent an envoy with costly gifts to the Mamluk Sultan Shaykh al-Mahmudi, the protector of the Karamanids, while he was at Inegol in February (with the aim of forestalling any possible intervention), conveying a letter. In March 1415 the Ottoman army under the command of the Anatolian Beylerbeyi Bayezid Pasha decisively defeated the Karaman army under Mehmed II at the Battle of Konya.
