In the heart of Eceabat, the Şehitlik Hospital Museum is a witness to the most painful period of the Battles of Gallipoli (1915-1916). The surgical instruments, medicine bottles, and patient records on display realistically reflect the medical conditions of the era. The fact that thousands of the Ottoman army's wounded soldiers were treated here, and that many of them remained on this land, echoes through the museum's walls like a silent lament. Doctors and nurses tried to work miracles with the simple tools in their hands. The photographs and documents in the museum chronicle the fierce struggle between the Ottoman and Anzac forces in this region. An interesting detail: although the hospital building was established before the war, during the war it served far more wounded than anticipated.
