It is said that the village's name was originally Aşıklar and came from seven brother bards (aşık), the other six of whom dispersed to the surrounding villages. Each year the tomb hosts a traditional communal keşkek feast and a collective prayer for rain, prepared cooperatively. Many people from neighboring villages and from Karacasu join the keşkek feast. Aşık Bilal is said to have lived around 700 years ago.
