Editor's Note
The İzmir Mask Museum, in the Alsancak quarter of İzmir, opened on 10 May 2011 as Turkey's first mask museum. Its historic Levantine-style building was restored by the Konak municipality. The two-story boutique museum displays ethnic masks alongside masks of famous figures such as Atatürk, Aziz Nesin, Mehmet Âkif Ersoy, Nâzım Hikmet and Âşık Veysel.
