Temnos was a small Greek polis of ancient Aeolis, later incorporated into the Roman province of Asia, on the western coast of Anatolia. Its remains lie near the village of Görece in the Menemen district of İzmir.

A small Aeolian polis on high ground near the village of Görece in Menemen, looking out at once over Kyme, Phokaia and Smyrna; its coins show it lay close to the Gediz river. Herodotus counts Temnos among the twelve Aeolian cities. It did not join the Athenian-led Delian League in the 5th century BC and was probably subject to Persia, yet in the 4th century it struck its own bronze coinage. In 155 BC Prusias II of Bithynia plundered and burned its temple of Apollo. It was already in decline under Augustus, an earthquake destroyed it under Tiberius, and by Pliny's time it had ceased to be a settlement, though it was rebuilt later.
