Editor's Note
The burial ground is divided into numerous plots by stone walls, and each plot is thought to have belonged to a different family. Some graves feature single-block marble sarcophagi, and several are decorated around their edges with geometric and floral motifs. The gravestones from the Menteşe Beylik period bear twisted colonnettes and palmette motifs. Excavation and restoration work in the cemetery is ongoing. See: PAU Beçin Excavation - Menteşe Cemetery.
