Ioniapolis was a town of ancient Caria that flourished during the Hellenistic period. It supplied the marble needs of major cities such as Miletus; the extracted marble was loaded onto boats at the Mersinet landing and carried to Miletus along the Büyük Menderes (Maeander) river.
