Editor's Note
This is a mosque whose stones were numbered, dismantled and transported from the Kepez area near Emirgazi to Kutören, where it was rebuilt. Known as the Abdullah Mosque in the village it came from, the building was also used for a time as a church by Armenians. It is thought to have been used as a mosque from the 1600s onward. Mehmet Şükrü Pasha, father of Salih Omurtak, one of the Chiefs of the General Staff of the Republic of Turkey, prayed in this mosque while passing through Kutören on his way to Aksaray during a campaign, and wrote on the mosque wall, "Intercession, O Messenger of God." Şükrü Pasha's inscription has still not been erased and can be seen.
