Editor's Note
This fountain in central Burdur was commissioned in AH 940 / AD 1501-1502 by Ali bin Hamza, physician to Prince Korkut, brother of Selim I the Grim, during Korkut's governorship of these regions. The fountain adjoins the wall of the Çeşmedamı Mescidi, which collapsed in the 1971 Burdur earthquake. Built of cut stone, its basin and taps were replaced later. The fountain was registered by decision no. 502 of GEYAK on 13 May 1977. Water still flows from this, the oldest fountain in Burdur.
