The Great Palace is the largest structure of the Kubadabad Palace complex; by its location, rich decoration and interior arrangement it was reserved for the residence of the sultan and his family. Built on a rectangular terrace, the structure has a two-part courtyard system, one part arranged as a forecourt and the other as a viewing terrace. The interior layout broadly resembles that of the Small Palace. The forecourt in the southwest of the building is entered from the northwest facade. Along the southwest edge of this courtyard, behind a bench, stand seven cells lined up side by side.
