Editor's Note
It was built southwest of the western cistern, outside the main fortification wall, and has a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters of water. This cistern is thought to have served commercial caravans that were not admitted into the city, as well as the necropolis area. The structure, which has a cross-vaulted ceiling, is supported by two rectangular stone piers. Sixteen meters of fill earth were removed from this cistern during excavations conducted by the Directorate of the Mardin Museum.
