Editor's Note
The Artuklu Caravanserai, built as a caravanserai during the Artuqid period in 1275, was used as a school before the Republic and in later years was owned by the Mungan family and then by various other families. For a time it served as the Hisar Building (the state tobacco monopoly) and was most recently used as a bakery. Converted into a hotel in 2003, the building has operated as a hotel since 2005.
