Prof. Dr. Namık Açıkgöz has read its inscription as follows: "From the great benefactor Kadızade Süleyman Efendi, the water of generosity flowed from the sea of God's grace. When he built a fountain over this water for the sake of God, the souls of the thirsty of Karbala rejoiced. With each cup drunk from this fountain's water, may God grant countless blessings for every drop. When this fountain was built, Ziya gave its date thus: O you who thirst, this fountain was built in the finest of places."
