Editor's Note
What makes this Ottoman-period mosque truly special is that a stream runs beneath it. In the past, because the floor was wooden, the sound of the water flowing below could be heard, and ducks were kept there. During restoration, glass flooring was installed at certain points in the prayer hall so that the building's structural layers could be seen. The trough of the fountain adjoining the mosque is a piece of spolia, made by laying one of Stratonikeia's ancient columns horizontally and hollowing it out along its full length.
