The Masare Castle is fortified atop a high mountain peak north of the Masare (Nasar) hamlet, which is attached to the Toptepe (Nebıl) neighborhood of the Midyat district of Mardin province. Known to locals as Kelha Masare (Masare Castle), the castle covers an area measuring 130 m east to west and 100 m north to south. Surveys at the castle, built on a mountain peak running east to west, have identified partly surviving fortification walls, houses built in later periods, collapsed castle chambers filled with stone inside, and cisterns.
