Although the exact date of its founding is not known, the Basret Lodge was established in the 1820s by Sheikh Hâlid-i Cezerî. From its founding, the lodge operated as a center of learning and spiritual wisdom where teaching and religious guidance were carried out together. The complex includes a large mosque, a madrasa attached to it, and a dervish lodge. This group of buildings was used as a setting where scholarly education and Sufi training were pursued side by side. The disciples receiving spiritual training at the lodge would carry out their retreats (itikâf) and certain practices of remembrance and asceticism following "İbrahim b.
