The exact date of construction of the Surp Kevork Church in Derik is unknown. According to some records, the church was built in 1650. Transferred to the State Treasury after 1915, the building was used for various purposes. In 1957 it was purchased from the State by the local community and registered in the name of a Derik Armenian named Garabed Keçeci. After his death it passed to his heirs. The church's most recent restoration took place in 2004, after which it was consecrated by Archbishop Aram Ateşyan and reopened for worship.
