The castle sits atop a high crag dominating the plain. The western and eastern sides of the hill are so steep and sheer as to be impossible to reach. Entry to the castle is provided through an arched gate to the left of the bastion on the northwest side. On the left side of the entrance gate there is a heavily worn inscription carved into the stone. On the right side of the entrance gate is a cross motif carved into the stone within a circle. Above the arched entrance gate, two facing high-relief lion figures set into the walls of the arch are striking.
