The Halil Bey Mosque (also known locally as the Kızıldağ Plateau Mosque) was built between 1530 and 1540 by Piri Mehmed Paşa, son of Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey. The mosque that survives today, however, is the building reconstructed by Hacı Mehmed Mir after a fire in the 18th century. The mosque is recorded under the name "Halil Bey Mosque" in the Adana Pious Foundations Register. On the Kızıldağ Plateau, Piri Mehmed Paşa founded a complex consisting of a mosque, madrasa, soup kitchen, bathhouse, and shops. Endowment deeds dated 1541 and 1558 also confirm the existence of these structures.
