Editor's Note
The Ereğli Grand Mosque stands in the Ereğli district of Konya Province and was built in 1426 by Mehmet Bey, son of Karamanid İbrahim Bey. Its most striking feature is the minaret, erected in 1116 during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Mesud I and originally serving as a watchtower; it is regarded as one of the oldest minarets in Turkey.
