Editor's Note
The Gazi Mansion (Atatürk Mansion) is a two-story historic mansion in Diyarbakır. Dating from the 15th century, it is known as an Akkoyunlu work and was formerly called the Semanoğlu Mansion. During World War I, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, then commander of the 16th Corps, used it as his headquarters and stayed there between 1916 and 1917. The Diyarbakır municipality bought it in 1937 and presented it to Atatürk; today it displays belongings that once were his.
