Editor's Note
The man buried in the tomb, named Niyazi Baba, was one of the saints of Khorasan who contributed greatly to the Turkification of Anatolia (Kalafat, 1999: 515). According to tradition, Niyazi Baba first came to the Denizli region, then fell asleep exhausted in a village of the Tavas district of Denizli, leaving his dervish cloak there, which is why that village came to be called 'Hirka Koyu' (Cloak Village); he later came near the village of Solmaz, also in Tavas, where, because people treated him kindly, he said, 'May the pines you cut never wither...'
