Editor's Note
The church building, commissioned in 1853 by Mavromati, one of Mersin's notables, was for many years one of the city's landmark structures. It was demolished in 1945 along with the Mavromati Girls' School. Today the Zafer Bazaar and Bit Pazarı commercial buildings stand on its site.
