Editor's Note
It lies within the boundaries of the Helvacıoğlu neighborhood in the central district of Kilis. The castle ruins at the eastern end of the summit of Mount Resul Osman are thought to date to the Late Roman period (4th-5th centuries). It has been suggested that the settlement here was probably built as a garrison to control the transition zone between northern Syria and the Anatolian Plateau, in order to prevent unrest during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Justinian. It was registered as an immovable cultural asset requiring protection by decision no. 4889 of the Gaziantep Regional Council for the Conservation of Cultural Property, dated 21 October 2022 (1st degree).
