Editor's Note
Built in the 19th century, this religious complex also contained rabbis' quarters and a school. The synagogue remained in active use until 1958, after which the dwindling Jewish population led to its abandonment. Three Hebrew inscriptions can be seen on its walls. The building, which fell under the authority of the Aleppo chief rabbinate, remained ruined and derelict until 2018. Restoration work that began in 2018 was completed in 2019, and the building is expected to serve as a cultural center.
