Editor's Note
Strobilos, today known as Aspat or Çıfıt Kalesi, is a Byzantine-era town on the south-western Anatolian coast across from the island of Kos, near Akyarlar in the Bodrum district of Muğla. The hilltop fortress preserves traces of a Lelegian settlement dating back to the 7th century BC, over which the Çıfıt fortress (used until Ottoman times) stands. Excavation and restoration work is ongoing at the site.
