Begun by Halil Paşa of the Ramazanoğulları and completed by Piri Paşa, the building stands within the Ulu Mosque complex. It entered service in 1572 as a standby garrison and inner-city barracks, and was later used for various purposes. Source: Adana Governorship, Adana Urban Inventory, 2012
