Editor's Note
It stands on the Mitisin plateau and is known by that plateau's name. Its southern side, commanding the road, is rounded, while the side facing the forest is built with a straight wall. The watchtower's layout and masonry share the same characteristics as other medieval watchtowers. The roughly built stone walls must once have been faced on the inside. The gaps between the walls were filled with rubble bound together with mortar, and traces of plaster can still be found on the walls. The top of the watchtower was likely covered with a wooden roof. In its building technique and materials it was constructed in the Greek period and later reused in the Middle Ages.
