Editor's Note
Mancınık Castle was built in 1290 by the Armenian king Hetum. It lies within the bounds of Rabat (today called Konaklı) in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province, about 6 kilometres from the settlement of Rabat (Konaklı). The castle sits on the western side of the Amanos Mountains, on a high slope overlooking the Gulf of İskenderun. Standing at an altitude of 850 metres, it was built on the rock. The castle stands out for its position on a high slope and its construction on a rocky base. Its setting lies in the western part of the Amanos Mountains and looks out over the Gulf of İskenderun.
