Editor's Note
Syangela was a town and polis (city-state) of ancient Caria, believed to have been a Lelegian settlement. It was a member of the Delian League and appears in the tribute lists of ancient Athens. Along with Myndus, it avoided being absorbed into Halicarnassus when Mausolus united the other Carian cities. Its site lies near Kaplan Dağ in Muğla.
