Editor's Note
The Demeter Terrace lies roughly at the middle of the northwest slope of Küçük Kale (Little Castle). Apart from the city wall bounding its southeast, it is enclosed by a wall measuring 32.2 × 31.1 m. The numerous terracotta votive objects found in a jumbled state on the bedrock in front of the southwest wall indicate that it was used as the "votive dump" of a nearby sanctuary. The offerings show that the sanctuary belonged to Demeter and can be dated to no earlier than the 4th century BC.
