Editor's Note
Lissa, also called Lissai, was a town of ancient Lycia mentioned by the geographer Ptolemy. Its site lies within the Kapukargın neighbourhood of the Dalaman district of Muğla, on the western side of the Gulf of Fethiye. Inscriptions and tombs have been found at the site, and the town's name and location are known chiefly from decrees dated to the 3rd century BC, in the reign of Ptolemy II. The site was explored by the British antiquaries Theodore and Mabel Bent in March 1888.
