Story
It stands northwest of İmikuşağı village in Baskil, on the east bank of the Euphrates, across from the point where the Tohma Stream enters the river. The mound measures 200 by 150 metres and rises 38 metres above the river bed. The first survey came in 1975, while archaeologists catalogued settlements that the Karakaya Dam would cover; Veli Sevin directed the main excavation from 1981 to 1986, and the dig ended when water began to collect in the reservoir. Fourteen building levels and eight cultural phases were distinguished, running from the Middle Bronze Age to the medieval period. Level eight produced a 12.4 cm terracotta goddess in Hittite-style sandals.
