Editor's Note
The church, said to have been built in 1364, was also damaged in the earthquake of 1881, and in the earthquake of 6 February 2023 it again suffered serious damage: parts of its ceiling collapsed, load-bearing columns broke, sections of the dome and walls came down, and deep cracks formed in the walls.
