Editor's Note
Built in 1901, this high school was the 38th in Turkey. The building, used by the French for military purposes, was later converted into an educational institution attached to the monastery. Where the bust of Ataturk now stands, there was once a bust of Joan of Arc during the French administration. In the 1930s it became a middle school, and in 1955 it was made a high school again.
