Editor's Note
The mosque on Kurtulus Avenue is entered through an arched door beneath the minaret, from which stairs lead up to the courtyard. The single-story mosque has a gabled roof and a mosaic-paved courtyard; the plain building has a flat wooden ceiling and a semicircular mihrab. The mosque has no pulpit (minbar), and its minaret is built of cut stone with a cylindrical shaft and a pointed cap. Its inscription is on the base of the minaret, which also serves as the entrance. The structure, which collapsed in the February 6 earthquake, was subsequently reconstructed.
