Editor's Note
Standing at the corner where Kurtulus Avenue meets Ornek Street, the Helefoglu Mansion is one of the original examples of Ottoman-period Turkish residential architecture. It was built in 1927 by Cemile Halefoglu in the eclectic architectural style of the French Mandate period, constructed by the Aleppo architect Abdullatif. Used as a residence for a long time, the building was rented out as commercial premises until it was converted into a hotel after 1963.
