Editor's Note
The Nida Özdemir Mansion, located on Kahraman Street and conforming to the traditional Ottoman-era residential type, was built as a dwelling toward the end of the 19th century by Armenian stonemasons and was for a long time used as a home by a Jewish family. The mansion consists of two-storey blocks arranged around a central courtyard, enclosing it on the northeast and southwest sides. The mansion has stone walls, its windows and doors have segmental arches, its ceilings are clad with alaturka and Marseille tiles and have wooden beams, and the courtyard is in places clad with dressed stone, marble, and patterned terrazzo mosaic flooring.
