Editor's Note
On the southern slope of a hill 2 km west of Taşucu, at the ancient site of Mylai, which the local people call 'Manastır' (Monastery), there are building remains from the Late Roman and Early Byzantine periods. 'The old wall ruin seen in the centre of Taşucu belongs to the city of Mylai, 3 km away today. The fact that the local people call this site Manastır may also point to a settlement here.' According to Bilge Umar, names such as Moulassa-Moula-Mylasa-Mylassa, of which many examples are found in Anatolia, gradually entered the Greek language over time.
