Archaeological remains are found on Beşparmak Island, the largest of the Babadıl Islands, whose ancient name is unknown. On Babadıl Island there are the remains of a fortress and several vaulted tombs from the period of the Kingdom of Cilicia. Assessments of the terracotta, wooden and metal anchors recovered in underwater surveys suggest that the site was used from at least the 2nd century BC to the 13th century AD. The two periods in which the finds are most concentrated are the Early Roman period and Late Antiquity.
