Editor's Note
The Lycian Way is a 540-km waymarked walking route in southern Turkey running from Fethiye to Antalya, taking on average 29 days to walk. The route generally follows Roman roads, old footpaths and mule tracks; it is often rocky and stony and unsuitable for mountain biking. Set between the coast and the mountains, the route features frequent steep climbs. It was researched, designed and waymarked in 1999 by the British/Turkish amateur historian Kate Clow. It is Turkey's first long-distance walking route, created to identify and preserve some of the country's ancient roads.
