Story
Nusret Mayın Gemisi is a historic vessel displayed in the Tarsus district of Mersin and known for its role in the naval defense of Çanakkale. Built in Germany to lay mines, the vessel arrived in Çanakkale on September 3, 1914. On the night of March 7 to 8, 1915, it laid 26 mines parallel to the shore in Karanlık Liman, targeting the area used by warships as they turned back. Claims in the earlier text that it was built in the Tarsus shipyards and carried mines day and night are incorrect. The present display allows its technical features and wartime role to be considered together.
